Air Conditioner problems...HELP!!!??

I have a 2002 X5 3.0i Sport. Occasionally when I turn on the car, the A/C unit it is completely powerless (no buttons respond, no display). When this happens, shutting down and restarting the SAV solves the problem and the A/C works fine. This had only happened to me twice before, but yesterday it happened twice (i had to restart the SAV to get the A/C to come on). Has anyone else experienced this?? Suggestions?? Any ideas?? Much appreciated!!!

Sounds like a faulty head unit.

That looks more like like the final stage resistor to me. There is a DIY in this forum for that.

"No Display Unit"

Head units are prone to developing faults and will not power up. Faulty FSR still allows head unit to power up.
There are previous posts relating to this.
