AFE CAI for 3.0 X5

What do you think of this mod? Does this make your X goes smoother? They say its a 25 HP increase mod. Give me your opinions before I order them. Thanks.

You won't get any hp increase. You won't get a fuel consumption decrease. The manufacturer's web site, under 'dyno results' lists 'coming soon'. And that is if you believe their unvalidated dyno results. You can see their own dyno results for the 4.4 on their web site.

Lots of posts on this one, partly because their was a group buy on the AFE CAI. If you get it, base your decision on how it looks under the hood, and whether you like to hear the intake air sound louder than the stock air box.

Did this mod a couple months ago on my 2001 3.0.

Overall, i wish i had my $200 back... No noticable performance, but it makes the engine growl a little more.. Quality of the set is good, but my filter has turned black in about a month.

those high flow filters need to be cleaned often... monthly is a good interval. just don't over oil them.
