Ok... heres the first of many dumb questions?

The first couple of probable many dumb questions...

1) My recently purchased 05 CPO'ed X5 does not mention xenon lights on the invoice. However the lights I have seem very similar to xenons I have seen in other cars.

How can I best determine if I have xenons lights...

2) Should the service indicator light show a milage under the bars to let me know how many miles to go before the next service is due....I have the bars but no milage...(I have the premium package if that helps)

3) Should the system tell me if a door is ajar????

many thanks

BTW...I just love this car!!!!!

what i suggest: Read the Manual. If it didn't come with one, you can download at the main x5world page.

1) If your lights are blue-ish, then you have xenons. Also, if there are rings of light around the high and low beam (called Angel Eyes, around here), then you have xenons. I believe the '05 xenons also have either "Xenon" or "BMW Adaptive Xenon" etched into the silver part next to the light.

2) In the X5 there are two different types of instrument panels. One has a mileage countdown until service with numbers, and one just has a countdown using green, yellow and red bars. You only have one or the other.

3) It should tell you if a door is open. In the MID (Multi-information Display), it should say "Door Open," "Liftgate open" or things along those lines.

Hope that answers your questions. Again, you should read the manual from cover to cover (as you should with any car), but if you have any other questions we're all here to help.

Does angel eyes mean you have xenons? Here in our place, it is different. If you get the x5 limo version, you get the angel eyes without xenons. If you get the x5 executive version, that;s the time xenon's are included. I'm talking about 04 models

I'm not sure. I think that on US models, angel eyes only come with xenons. I don't think I've ever seen a post-'04 model without xenons though.

Angel eyes come without xenons too. They still sue a projector lens instead of a reflector housing for the halogen bulb...In daylight witht he headlights off, there is no visual diff.
