Anybody with an indash, dvd/nav player

Been looking at the pop out dvd/nav screen, and have 2 questions

1. Will i lose my dsp with a new deck.
2. Where can i get a custom mouting bracket for the deck.

If anybody has a player, let me see some pics.

Yes, you'll lose DSP. Additionally, you'll also lose the ability to control the on-board computer functions for the vehicle.

Hey
I have an Alpine IVA-D310 (pop out single din) in my dash. You can get a single or double din faceplate from mybimmer.net. If I were you I would get a mybimmer.net Double DIN X5 Bezel with an Alpine IVA-W200 (double din). You will "lose" the DSP but you will be able to use the headunit's DSP which is much better. Also, to start you can just run the factory speakers off the headunit but you have the ability to use external amplifiers and such which will be much better. The IVA-W200 itself doesn't have navigation but you just have to add an NVE-N872A. The combination of the two is phenomenal. I haven't gotten lost yet The IVA-W200 also has the "FullSpeed" iPod connection, and you can add bluetooth, hd radio, sirius, xm, whatever you want. Other options include Pioneer or Eclipse (Eclipse makes better double din headunits). Honestly the pop out isn't that great in a double din space...I just feel like I'm wasting space...if I had more money right now I'd trade mine in for the W200 Anywho, if you have other questions ask! I've been going nuts looking at stuff for redoing the sound system in my X5 and have had three different systems in it as it is...

Good Luck!

Dave

Krunk check out the photos of my Eclipse in my Gallery...yes you won't be able to control your onboard computer but I never use it anyway...all of your warnings will still appear you just can't program anything...your DSP will go byebye but who wants or needs DSP it sucks...the mounting brackets you can get from crutchfield and I think there are different plates for different head units, unfortunately my headunit is soooo deep that the trim will not fold over my headunit (doesn't bother me though)...all of these negatives do not outweigh the positives i.e. my system rocks, has depth and is crystal clear!!!!!!!! I would sacrifice all of these things over and over again because I love the capabilities that my system offers, but to each his own
