picked up a nail today

Starting the trip back east, I checked tire pressures last night. Halfway to pickup Uhaul trailer, the tire monitor light goes on. I don't notice any pulling one way or another. I stop and visually check and don't notice anything. Finally, I pull out my tire gage and double check, Sure enough, the RR is 8lbs low! Off the the local Michelin dealer. An hour later, I'm good as new.

2 things....

1) IT WORKS! The next tire check would have been at the next fillup. Who knows what would have happened by then? Dodged a big bullet there!

2) My tire dealer informed me that only Michelin keeps their tire speed rating after a repair. If I had been running Pirelli or Goodyear, he would have had to recommend replacing the tire.

I figured this was interesting enuf to pass on and find out what the rest of you had heard about tire repairs. If what he said is true, it's another reason to drive Michelin.

Try living in Ft Lauderdale! With all of the construction around here a nail in the tire is comonplace. While I was at the Goodyear dealer a few weeks ago getting 3 nails taken out of one of my tires they told me the rocord was 14 nails in one tire!!!!

A buddy of mine has been through 4 run flats on his BMW 645 in 6 months at $600 a pop!!!! $2,400 in 6 months! Run flats cannot be patched.

Oh, by the way, no charge on the repair. Since he knows that's where I buy all my tires. I love living out here!

We also are having a construction boom, so I too know the drill...very interesting about the Michelin speed rating...would love to know the final answer on that.
