brake pads squec,noise!,advice,,help!!

my light come on ,,for the brakes to be change ,,,i have 2001-x5-3.0 and i change the pads yesterday my self (front and rear),put them the right way,,,but today ,,they start """"squeking''' is there anything that my take this squick out??? any help,will thanks in advance!,thanks

if you did not change the rotors the odds of squeak are very high. What pads did you use BTW?

did you put anti squeal on the tabs of the brake pads? majority of the squealing is from the metal to metal vibration of those tabs against the caliper...

did you bed in the pads? some pad compounds has been known to squeal without bedding in properly...

no i did not put any lube or anty squeal on the tabs,they have does clamps and they are very tight,, do you think with does clamps and still doing the squeal??,,
what do you mean ""bed""?hit the the calipper so everything goes in place?,,,thanks

Recommend the following steps:

1) Redo the brake job, using the same pads. Inspect them to make sure they are not glazed. Clean up the tabs (ears) and caliper guides so that there is no corrosion. Use high temperature grease (designed for brakes) on the tabs on both pads. As noted above, this is the most common cause for squealing. When you reinstall the pads, make sure the clips are tight and properly seated.
2) Bed in the pads. This seats the pads, making sure the friction surface matches up to the rotor surface. Best procedure is on zeckhausen's site, at http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm
3) While you have the brakes apart, check the rotor thickness. If it is near the minimum, replace them. It is not necessarily related to the squealing, but you didn't mention if you had done this previously.
4) If you used a pad designed for racing (I don't know the one you mentioned) consider using a low-dust pad like the Axxis Deluxe.
5) Skip the goop on the back of the pads, it is usually temporary.
6) If the warning light came on showing pads were worn out, you need to replace the sensor. Get it from the dealer, it is relatively cheap.

so if the light stays on after i chenge the brake pads do i still need to change the sensor?they look okay,!? thanks

The Cleaner helped me out with this as well. When I changed my pads and rotors they sent me the wrong rotors, so I just chanded the rear rotors and front pads. I had a bad squeel on in the front when I just changed the pads. The Cleaner suggested and I should have remebered to do this, but take some rough sand paper and scuff up the rotors, get rid of the shine that is on them. It worked for me. I did it on the outside and inside face of the rotor. I just blocked the X's tires and left it in neutral (be carefull, when doing the front I put the emerg brake on in the rear. This way you can turn the front rotors to scuff up all of them. The idea of the anti squeel compound if a good idea as weell, very cheap. It takes out any imperfections in the poads or calipers.

if you are using different brand pads on the same rotors you might get the noise. you should have clean the old rotors with a fine abrasive pad and brake cleaner.

try bedding the new pads first this might do the trick. do some hard stops from 50mph a few times (increase brake force gradually). not too hard as to trigger abs though.

I agree some plastilube on the brake caliper frame where the pads ride will help.
