X5 had me tripping?

Ok so my neighbor knocks on my door and tells me my lights are on and I swear there off. Anyhow so I go check the X and my right front/rear parking lights are on. I'm like WTF. I'm immediately thinking a bad LCM but damn not my X it can't be. Well to make a long story short I noticed that my turn signal lever was in the up position thus the right parking lights on. I moved it two clicks down and yup my left side turned on. Note that the vehicle is completely off and they are not flashing. Looked to me like a safety feature. Now for the best one of all, I push forward on the high beam and now my Xenon's turned on. I'n order to turn them off you have to turn your parking lights on then off. So really my question is, is this a safety feature or a sign of a LCM going bad I'll be checking my owners manual, hmmm

Hmm, well i don't know if it's related but everyonce and a while I'll turn my X on and no lights will work at all (also I'm guessing a safety feature), and it is fixed when I restart the car

it is in the manual. your LCM is fine and is part of the illuminated entry.

the left/right turn stalk thing is common in europe. it is a saftey thing. dr kewl once wrote a post about it (not sure which board it was on anymore), but essentially it was to tell other motorist on the roads you were there...

the headlight thing is pathway lighting... it'll turn itself off after some time. meant for people who have dark driveways when they get home...

The ON time of the pathway lighting is programmable (done by your dealer, of course).

Feature huh, figured

Thx guys! I guess everything but auto-locking/unlocking doors was programmed at the dealership from the previous owner BTW is there a thread topic about all the features one can have programed on the X? It would be interesting to know what one can or cannot do with there X
