XM vs. Sirius Subscription/Value of BMW Sirius Unit?

I'm in a bit of a quandary. My Sirius satellite radio subscription just expired. From looking at the website, it looks like it'll run me about $142 to re-up for a year. On the other hand, I could pickup a Blitzsafe/XM unit for $185 and get a year of XM for around $75 as a prior subscriber. I'm leaning this way as I found the programming to be (IMO) essentially equal and a tossup in terms of which one I prefer more. Alt Nation is great, but I liked Fred, Ethel and Lucy. And IMO, XM has a better comedy channel. Finally, I don't do Howard Stern, so that doesn't figure into the equation. I guess I slightly prefer XM.

So here's the question: Do I pull my Sirius hardware and sell it and go with the Blitzsafe/XM setup (which I had on my 530i and it worked flawlessly), or do I just keep the Sirius setup? And if I sell the Sirius hardware, what's it worth? And last of all, will I be able to use the DICE Ipod setup with the XM/Blitzsafe setup?

Thanks for any thoughts/comments.

Mike

It really depends on the specific programming you are interested in - you're right, XM does have some great comedy channels. As for hardware, you are covered either way.

If equipment change out is not that big a deal, go XM. Had it in my 03' 4.4 and better programming. Sirius really lacks the programming and music
choices, at least for now. I have Sirius now because of Nav really feel limited
on my choices of music.

Does the Blitzsafe/XM integrate with the navigation system or is the Sirius the only way to do an integration with the nav system? Is it esentially the same installation as the factory Sirius system? Where can I find info on the Blitzsafe?

I had XM and loved it. No experience with Sirius.

I only know that with 2006 and Nav, Xm will not go through the head unit.
Without Nav, XM is easy with Blitsafe. There is another recent post about this where some with 2005's have XM.
