There are 2 options for power included in every kit. The first is a cigarette plug that one cannot be hidden obviously and yes, has to be unplugged when not in use. The second option is a T-Tap wire that can be spliced into any "cold" 12 volt source in the vehicle. This option is for BMW dealerships who "Hardwire" the kit into the existing power of the vehicle and is a hidden wire that shuts off when the key to the vehicle has been taken out of the ignition.
