Talking New-ish owner saying hello :) and looking for some advice, help please

Hey fellas, I've owned my x5 for about 7 months now, and the trans finally decided to give out (bought it with a slight shudder between 2nd and 3rd gear shifting, so I'm not surprised) but anyways, I'm going to be rebuilding the trans myself, and I've been reading this thread http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ng-post-2.html

And even though I've read it plenty of times, I'm still not sure where to actually find and purchase the kit I need, I see his link, but I can't find anything on that website (maybe there's something wrong with me ha ha )

Could someone please post "add to cart" type links

I have a 2003 4.4 with auto trans (obviously lol)

I will also be rebuilding my front and rear suspension, and getting an alignment, what kits do you guys recommend for that?

Anyways, glad to be a member and hope to learn a lot more about my x5, I've had about 6 e38's but this is my first x5, I know mechanically their somewhat similar, so I'm pretty comfortable doing anything I need to do myself.

Welcome aboard!

The short and sweet version regarding suspension is that brands such as lemforder, febi, meyle and of course oem are the recommended ones to use. IMO, others such as MTC, Uro and no name ebay stuff is best be overlooked if you want to get any sort of longevity out of your parts. Theres a TON to be read on this subject and could be debated for days.....so I'd say search around a bit and make an informed decision for yourself

I'll let one of the experts take the reins from here on out regarding the shopping list for trans parts

Yes, sorry. Here, try Ericsson Industries. Maybe call them. I believe they are able to help you. You might need to provide the serial number of the tranny.

How can I find the serial without actually removing the trans? Vin maybe?
