A/C Blower

Hello X5 World,

I have a 2002 4.4i X5 and now I have my first mechanical/technical breakdown. The A/C and/or heat blower is defunct. I've tried changing the fuse but yet no air. The rear fan is working however the front blowers are out.

Anyone have any ideas on what is preventing the front blowers from turning on.

Thanks,

Ariwood

Very good chance it's a failed final stage resistor. See http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/m...placement.html

El Jeffe, thanks for the information. I will work on it over the weekend and let you know how it turns out.

Thumbs up

Ariwood,
After 3 tries, I think they finally may have resolved my similar issue. Your post helped me give more information to the dealer because it made me check the rear blower. Thank you. Anyway...
My AC has worked off and on sine late July, and 3 weeks wait per appointment (with loaner car). They first changed the Final Stage Resistor (no help). Then they replaced the entire computer control unit (no help). It took them 2 days of troubleshooting this time, but I got it back! (works so far!!!) They said there was a "crimped" or "exposed" wire that was grounding itself out every once in a while! Here is the tech sheet:

"Inspect Heating and A.C system functions.
R&R CENTER CONSOLE, R&R IHKA, R&R FINAL STAGE, R&R D/S LOWER DASH PANEL, R&R RADIO, R&R CENTER VENT, R&R GLOVE BOX, TESTED WITH KNOWN GOOD IHKA, TESTED WITH KNOWN GOOD FINAL STAGE, INSPECTED WIRING HARNESS, FOUND SHORT TO GROUND UNDER DASH BEHIND GLOVE BOX. REPAIRED WIRING. RECODED IHKA."

Hope this helps you and anyone else!
