I just can't get over those brakes and rotors
Could you pls tell me how much it would cost to install those brakes and rotors?
Also, do you have any issues with brake dust? I'm getting too much fading from my OEM brakes

Thanks for the info

It cost me 3200 quid, front and rear. I researched a lot of Big brake kits, Brembo's, ATE, Stoptech, Wilwood, F-Carbon, EBC, Rossini, etc etc.

The ones I chose were the biggest rotors I could get (405mm) with 8 pots, Brembos are 380mm but they wouldnt fit my wheels without spacers, which I wouldnt want or hub enlargement. They were also a good make of high quality with good feedback as a brand. Difficulty was in my research was there was little feedback for the X5. I remember one US company advertising AC Schnitzer big brakes, ACS dont make brakes for the X5 so the point is you have to be very careful.

The pads are porcelain so there is NO brake dust, just road dust, its amazing everytime I look at my wheels after driving all day they are almost spotless. I still cant take it in as I never had these type of brakes on a car before.

The braking itself is awesome when I first had them I felt disappointed with the feel , better than OEM but not great, I forgot about bedding them in! After a few miles suddenly there they were awesome first time I almost gave myself whiplash, serious stopping power. Gives me a lot more confidence now in terms of handling and driving the car. But best of all it looks great especially with it lowered with 22 inch (10.5) wheels and the rails off, gives a really 'beefy' sort of look.

Its a lot of money but well worth it IMHO. I am well chuffed.

Not a thing, even when bedding in. I have had no adverse sounds at all.

There is a sweet sound from the discs as the air passes through the drill holes and slots though when braking.

very nice, why did you spend that much on a brake set up for a 3.0? do you think it really needed it. i must say it looks cool but seems expensive.

You could make that arguement about any non track car. But apart from looks it makes a big difference to the handling and even the safety of the car. You could argue that the engine size is irrelevant when considering the stopping forces alone for the weight of the car in terms of general use around town or on the Motorways. It doesnt matter if I am doing 60 or 80 or 120 in a 4.8 or a 3.0 I still need to stop as well as I can plus you ain't seen me driving I am bloody terrible!

Anyway you are also making the assumption that the 3.0 is standard either in its displacement or by other means!!
