How long is the warranty for the X5??

Depending on how long is the warranty for the X5, I want to pay to extend it because my cars is having a lot of problems.. Do you guys think it is a good idea to extend it? Thanks.

North America = 4year/50K miles. Everyone has their opinions on extended warranty...do a search on the topic!

Warranty

An aftermarket warranty is definitely a good idea. The cost of a warranty will pay for itself after two visits to your local stealership.

Just came back from my 3rd trip to the shop after my normal warranty expired. Let's just say I'm glad I have it.

any suggestion to what 3rd party warranty to get?

I checked warrantydirect.com. the price seems high. $4000 for my 2004 X5 4.4 to extend the warranty for another 2 year (6 year total) or up to 100K miles. which is even more expensive than BMW's extend warranty. think about it, that is 2K per year.

too bad I am not the original owner which means I can't buy the extend warranty from BMW (is that true? any other non-offical way to get it?).

yes it's true... only the original owner can extend the warranty service advisor does it when you bring your car in for service in the BMW vehicle module and from what i was told for the X5 it's between $1095-$1195

GL on your choice

$1095-$1195 is the price for extended MAINTENANCE. Extended Warranty runs anywhere between $2k-$3k depending on "who" you know and how well your negotiating skills are. See this link for some hints => http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...ended+warranty
