turn signal bulb replacement question

This might be a dumb question i'm not sure. my left rear turn signal bulb went out and i'm looking to replace it. anyone know how i can access the bulb? there doesn't seem to be any way to open up the rear tail lights?? thanks!

Not if he has a 2004-2006 X5. I had to remove my headlights to gain access to the corner bulbs.

Edit: Opps, sorry, I didn't realize the original poster said "rear" bulbs.

The rear bulb is accessible through the access panel on the left inside where your NAV or CD is. It's a tight fit, but you should be able to reach down to remove the bulb socket. I was able to do it just barely.
If it's too tight, maybe someone with smaller hands can reach. Good luck.

The bulb is housed in a plastic housing with metal contactors touching the metal of the car and does not have any wires running to it. Push and turn type removal. If your X is a few years old, be sure to check and remove any corrosion on the contactors. It does take a bit of fancy handwork to remove, worst case, just pull your CD/NAV unit for extra room.

Thanks everyone for all your help! didn't realize it was so easy. bought the bulb, replaced it in 5 minutes. much appreciated guys!
