Opinions Wanted

Hey all.

Been looking to buy an Estoril 4.8is for a long while now, but have not found any
Seen a fair few 4.6is but no 4.8is.
Anyway, a Lemans Blue has come up with the right spec, and for the right price. However, I am not really a fan of the colour.
I have thought about getting it resprayed, but am not sure about this. I have only ever seen one 4.8is in Estoril, and no dealer in town recalls selling any in that colour. I have also never seen it for sale on the net.
Should I keep waiting, or should I get another colour and respray?
Or any other suggestions?
Opinions welcome.
Thank you

I suspect a respray would be very expensive - especially if you want it done right - i.e. door jams, under the hood, etc. But, if you do have the $$, you could probably end up with a better-than-factory paint job as the factory paint is very orange-peelish... I suspect if it's not done "right", it will likely decrease the value of the vehicle fairly substantially.

Unless we are going to see you on MTV CRIBS I would say doing a paint job would be a needless expense.

To strip the X, prepare it, remove all of the trim and repaint should cost $5,000 and up. To do it right and I am sure you would.

Find another color! I think the X5 looks amazing in white with black rims! If they made the 4.6is in white I would have one. Here is a lil something to sway your opinion:

That is true...I don't know why BMW paint job seems so far behind their asian counterparts. I had a few Hondas and Toyotas and their paint job seems far superior to the X. I've seen some X3/X5 on the dealer's lot with so much orange peel that it's almost unacceptable IMHO.

AussieZ3, I agree with others that it's best just finding another color as the 4.8is didn't come with Estoril as a standard color. Most (99%) won't want to pay the extra $2500 that BMW was charging for a "special" color. So, your chances of finding another Estroril 4.8is would be very low.

Thanks for the responses.
The cost of a respray is not a big issue, as I have family in the game. The real issue I guess, is the merit of the idea!

Funny, that white is the only other colour I would want, yet it too was not available on the 4.8is.
Out of curiosity,is it the only car BMW made that was never offered in white?

Has anyone seen or heard of a respray on an X5?
Cheers
