Engine Wiring Harness failure.

Just receive this engine wiring harness from Crevier. Part No. 12517503611. My X has been switching to "safe mode" and EML, ABS, DSC and other ligths have been turning on and off (after reseting the car, the 10 secs drill),.......dealer said it was a bad contact on the wiring harness, and have to replace it. They need two days to replace it, anybody had a similar experience?

Best!

I could see 2 days to install the entire wiring harness...as those are a nightmare, but for that section I'm not sure why. Guess they have to uninstall/reinstall a lot of hardware.

I just had the same problem this weekend. I hope my service contract covers it.

Mine failed about 3 weeks ago. Dealer required 10 hours to fix it. Luckily they assigned 2 techs to work on it and had it completed within a day. All parts & labor covered under CPO warranty. Props again to Competition BMW of Smithtown L.I.

Until about 2004, these things are all suspect, and cause those symptoms, but eventually can stop the car from running period. My friend the ex-tech said they did a lot of those under warranty on 2004> x5s but by 2004 they had this problem under control. I encountered this when my ICV crapped out.

You could probably replace that yourself over a weekend. Realistically an afternoon. I have disconnected nearly all of those connections myself for other issues, and I absolutely hate wiring, but the design of the harness itself is pretty simple.
