Rims and tires

I saw rims and tires on ebay. They come as a set. The tires are already installed on the rims. What are the pros and cons on buying a set of rims and tires this way instead of buying rims and tires separately.

If you buy the set, they come balanced and ready to go. All you have to do is take the old set off, and put the new set on. If you buy them separately, you will have to have the tires mounted, balance, and then put them on. You will incur extra expense and also extra shipping. Good luck.

Well if you buy from a reputable dealer with the tires already mounted, you are virtually assured that the wheels are "round" and that you will not have to deal with shipping back a bent rim when they are delivered. You can also install them yourself at home once they arrive. Now if you just buy wheels with out tires there is a chance they are out of round and will need to go back, this you will not discover till you go to have tires mounted.

There is a chance that the tires mounted on the wheels and then shipped to you may be out of round or improperly weighted, but the risk is usually minimal if the dealer is solid.
