I am at just over 90,000mi. Symptoms: - Engine light is ON most of the time these days. - Engine has lost its zip - no pick up and slow to accelerate. I am told I may need new ignition coils. Does this make sense ? How long are these suppose to last ? Are there different models of ignition coils ? or will any new model fit ? Regards, DS |

4.4 or 3.0 engine? Ignition coils either work or not and generally last a very long time, if one wasn't working your engine would be rough at idle. You could have them checked pretty easily. However your spark plugs should be changed if they are original. The injectors could be fouled as well. The engine light may be a symptom of either or both of these maintenance issues. Good luck

If your light is on, get the codes read and chances are it could be a bad sesor or something else.
