HELP!!! Garage is trying to say my "sprare tire" caused 15000 in damage

thats right i have my STOCK bmw spare tire on my bmw x5 3.0 AWD and this guy at this indie shop is trying to tell me that my driveshaft popped off the housing cracked the housing and bent my driveshaft bending it and smashing all my trany pans and everything else it could reach, prob is i got it out of the BMW shop the day before on CV's axles and left wishbone. Oh right and the Transmission is BLOWN, I'm F'd,

MY question is: IS this really possible that it's MY fault he's saying that the tire on the drivers side rear that i have on ( spare that 17" not 18" ) and that has been on for 2 days, and is the spare that CAME with my x5, is the cause of this insane break, because its a dif size?? thats what he says, I think he PULLED this out his ass cause he wants my biz and so i don't take it back to bmw, guy just lost my business.
P.S. i was doing a easy 45 when this happened.

HELP ME I'M GETTING SCREWED!
I PAID CASH FOR THIS LAST YEAR, AND I'VE DUMPED CLOSE TO 10K GETTING IT SERVICED AND FIXED IN ONE YEAR, NOW THIS. DON'T EVER BUY ONE OF THESE, I'M GOING BACK TO LEXUS. IF I MAYBE GET 10K BACK ON THIS ONE, UNACCEPTABLE BULLSH#$

The rollng diameter of the spare is the same as the regular tires on the vehicle and in no way could have caused the issue you have described.

IMO, flat-bed it to a highly reputable BMW shop for another opinion.

Why isn't at the BMW dealership that did the work already?

you should go back to lexus
have you ever play baccarat?
while a lot of players win PLAYER bet. you follow and place a PLAYER bet, you lose because BANKER win. Would you do that again? I doubt it. While a lot have good experience with BMW X5, you don't. The best you can do is go back to what you believe is good. Lexus in this case.

I am surprised that you would believe that the spare tire offered by BMW would cause this type of damage. The guy at the shop really has no clue on what caused your problem so he is trying to make an (un)educated guess. If this was a common problem then the forum would be filled with complaints.

You said you put $10,000 into the X. That seems like a lot to me. What year do you have and how much mileage? Also, what were some of the problems you have experienced?

Alternative to the stealership

Any one has an alternative to the stealership for service.

I have to think there is more to this story, why did the car not go back to the shop that originally did the work? and why was the spare on? Why would the shop let you leave if the spare can cause axles to explode?

10K in work is amazing, I think you may need to move back to Lexus, or get a better mechanic for your BMW because something is not right about this story.

So we've ascertained that it's not your fault - rolling diameter of the 17" is the same as the 18".

Your description of the mechanic failure is nearly the same as what the failures you described a week ago.

I can't really tell if the CV problem has happened to you twice? Or did it take place once but you're revisiting it here a second time because an indie mechanic pissed you off and you're venting. Start from the beginning. What has exactly happened, and where are you at this point?

I can sympathize with the issues you are dealing with. This problem should not have happened. I'm sure it cost you plenty in repairs since your X5 is probably not in warranty anymore. But considering it a blessing that we know now your new indie mechanic doesn't have a clue. He's not someone you want working on your X5.

It sounds to me like your taking your X to a shitty shop. So expect shitty service & shitty workmanship.

The very same would happen if i took my lexus to a crapola mechanic. You can't blame BMW if your not willing to shed a few extra $$ to get it right in the first place. Every car needs service, and every car needs to be taken care of. Show me a lexus that you don't have to service or change parts... show me !

edit: on second thought, just go buy another lexus... maybe your lexus can sqeuak by minimal service from crappy shops...
