What color is a charcoal interior exactly?

I know it's kind of stupid question, but I'm wondering what kind of color has charcoal interior. I'm interested in one 01 X5 3.0 (sport but with comfort seats ) but from the pics of it I can't determine the differences between charcoal and black interior. hence a few questions:

does the charcoal interior has:
1 black top and bottom dashboard?
2 black carpeting

are the charcoal seats lighter (color wise of course) than black ones? or they are lighter only on the sides with the actaul black inserts?

any future bimmer must have a black interior or very very close to it.

thanks for any help guys
Greg

I have an '01 with black and yes, upper and lower dash is black. If you are looking at pics of the seats, they are going to look charcoal. And the center inserts in the seats are a different shade. Here is a recent pic of mine:

Not sure if they had a "charcoal"

thanks for the input Dawg.

did you mean you have 01 with charcoal or black interior? I know your sig says black, but i thought that black seats would be all black, when yours look kind of two tone (or in other words charcoal to me).

kind of confused here, though I don't have that problem with my White on Black E39

Mine is called black. In person the seats look darker than they do in the pics.

Of course I could be wrong - I was the third owner of my vehicle - the first being the owner of a BMW dealer in Wisconsin and the second being an ex-NBA player, and as you can see one of them had "BMW X5" stitched into all of the headrests, so maybe they had the seat colors changed too. I have never really compared them to another black interior. Maybe someone else can chime in here.
