Lots of discussion about that in the past. Here is some of it: http://www.xoutpost.com/search.php?searchid=489942

If your referring to nitrogen in tires thing then Costco's buying the legend.

"Costco has banked on an airy proposition with its tire service customers to gain market share..."

That's not an endorsement. That's marketing - pure and simple. They're just providing what they think their prospective customers want.

I also heard...
- decreases 0-60 times
- resists punctures better
- makes the sidewalls shiny - no more ArmorAll
- repels brake dust
- eliminates road noise
- decreases understeer
- grips better in snow - can use your 20's in snow

Seriously though, while it may help a bit, I can't imagine you'd notice anything if you keep your tires at the right pressure...

I don't know myself but proponents say that tires inflated with pure nitrogen wear longer, stay inflated longer, improve gas mileage, resist metallic degradation and fouling of stems, won't support combustion in case of fire and are free from the corrosive effects of water.

There might be a slight increase in gas mileage, presumably because the pressure is more likely to remain constant when nitrogen is used

So is it worth it? That's probably one of those things in life you won't know the answer to until you try it.

And being lighter than air, the car will weigh less and give better fuel consumption.......
