Have this happened to your X

Hi guys
yesterday, my wife came home from work and could not open the driverside front door. It was stuck in lock position. She tried to open it with more force and broke something inside the panel. She had to low the window down to get access to the outside door handle and open from outside. Inside door handle became loose. any ideas what happened? I guessed something must be broken when she tried to open from inside with force. Will be busy this weekend with try to DIY. any suggestion will be appreciate.

What year is it? Lock actuators are a common weak point in early model X5's.

I had that happen one time, i just hit the unlock button in the inside console and all was good. Forcing it like your life would definitely break it.

She did try it couple of times before she tried with force to the inside door handle.

While replacing my window regulator, I was kind of surprised on how easy it was to disconnect the latch cable from the inside door handle. Probably a good chance that this just became detached from the handle - easy fix as long as nothing is broken.
