How to permanently enable the immobilizer?

Do I always have to set the engine immobilizer when I turn off the car? I'd like to skip that step and only have to enter the code when starting the engine.

i don't get it. How do you permanently enable the immobilizer? Isn't the immobilizer turned ON automatically upon locking the door?

I think what he's talking about is the CODE system on the Nav Screen. When you switch your X5 off you have to enter a code to arm the secondery security system, then when you switch your ignition on you enter it again to allow the X5 to start! Would I be right?? The code system is not really an immobiliser its just a deterent. The X5 has a built in proper immobiliser that works with the key and ignition.

Ok on MY nav, when you switch your ignition off to the first position you will see an option that says CODE. When you select this option it allows you too type in a code of your choice. (4 numbers) Once you install the code the screen will prompt you to switch the ignition off to activate. When you do this the system is armed so when you switch the ignition on again you will not be able to start your X5 without entering the code again.
