2002 4.4 X5 angel eyes

Hi there,
I have a few pointers about angel eyes on my X5.
I bought a set off ebay from aphase-auto, they cost $89.95 PLUS postage to the UK, they took 5 days to get here which I think is pretty good, they are brilliant ,near to oem standard.
Now a few more bits, I removed then split the lights using the hot air gun method as described on this forum. I also removed the black plastic inner surround by removing the 5 torx screws.
Now my car is a silver one and I think the black looks c..p. so I primed it and then sprayed it with chrome paint which looks like shiny grey when dry (a perfect match for the cars metalic grey) I then fitted the angel eyes, reassembled every thing and the lamps look great.
One other thing I did was to fit the silver indicator bulbs in the front and rear lights.
The rear are no problem ,but the front have a spade type bulb and I wanted to use bayonet bulbs so... I ordered 2 x 5 series E39 front indicator bulb holders and harnesses from local agents (About £8 each)
With my Dremal I cut slots around the bulb holder to locate the claw fixers then fitted them and waterproofed with silicone. the cables were joined to the indicator harness ( not polarity sensitive) and voila they work a treat.
When refitting the lenses arter using the heat gun I made sure of a waterproof joint by using a Roofing/gutter adhesive, which is black, in my silicone gun.
Hope this is a help
Regards,

Angel eyes

Hi there,
I presume the 'waffles' are the clear plastic internal lens /bulb covers.
I had to leave the in as they help to support the 'angel eye' rings.

Yeah, the waffles keep the rings mounted. I took out the lenses and i had to find some kind of adhesive to keep the rings in place. A whole lot of adhesive might i add. It would've been easier to use the waffle mounting but i love the clear look. Except i couldn't get the waffle out of my low beams.
