The switch on mine is just a small black push button beside the dirction control for the mirror!

It is pretty common to remove features when trying to reduce the base cost (bottom line they want to hook you on price and then sell you the extras. But it is odd you have two cars of similar age(?) with different standard specs. Typically you only see this on the lead-up to a model change where the manufactures want to shift what might otherwise be seen as and older model.

Something isn't right here. If Disnetsw is correct and you did purchase from Bavarian, I'm sure they will sort you out. However I don't know about you but I have had a lot of problems with the folding mirrors. The motors/electrics don't seem to be up to much.

His 4.6is came from JKC BMW. I have not had any problems with my mirrors yet, but my 4.6 has only 14.000miles so still quite new!

I also got my X from JKC, on the whole very helpful and I'm sure they will be fair. I also have about 14k on the clock and only use the folding option when in car parks or parked on the street, so it hasn't been over used. I was also surprised that the mirrors don't fold automatically when the car is turned off. This seems standard on most other makes.
