Nav & High Temperature

[Don't eat people]

Sitting at the lights minding my own business when the nav screen starts opening and closing repeatedly. A message on the screen reads "turning off monitor due to high temperature". Screen didn't feel that warm, been on for say 30 mins. So why is it opening and closing, looks like it's trying to fan itself to keep cool . Is this anything you guys have seen or is it just F.U.B.A.R.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. That's another X5 wonder. It has happened to several people before. Just remove the nav fuse in the rear and let it reset itself for a couple of minutes....it should work as advertised after that................Phil

There was a TIS bulletin on this problem. If your car is still under warranty, take it to the dealer...

Thanks guys, it seems to have self medicated and is working fine now. I'll bear your suggestions in mind for next time though.
