computer experts, please
works well. One of the options was TOOLS, Uninstall. Besides listing all of the programs line by line, I find the following: Security update for Win Media player-3 lines Security update for Win XP - 54 lines Update for Win XP - 10 lines Win XP hotfix - 16 lines May I assume that all of these have been installed and thus I can delete them? Thanks, Fred |

I'd stay away from tools like that, you'll end up doing more harm than good.

Don't uninstall them. You could save some disk space by deleting the updates located in C:\Windows\$NtUnistallxxxxx If you do you will not be able to uninstall those that you delete. The hotfixes will continue to build up until another service pack for XP comes out (if they even do it). Good luck.

On the CCLEANER main page on the left, it starts out with a cleaner option which got rid of a ton of stuff. The next icon down was ISSUES where it found file fragments to delete. The next icon down was TOOLS-Programs to remove where it listed all of the programs, line by line starting out with Adobe,
Itunes etc. Down towards the bottom there are Windows files-the first 3 lines are win media player and after each of them is a (kb890046), (kb893756), etc and the same goes for the windows xp security update (54 lines of them each with a different code at the end of the linbe, etc.) I don't know whether these are active files or whether they were downloaded to update the computer and are not needed any more-thats the question. keep away from ccleaner and dont delete anything you dont know about. I see this wayyyyyy to often someone thinks he/she is a hero and boom "My machine stopped working" "what did you do?" "deleted some stuff"

if you absolutely feel the need to get rid of them i would find out what each one is using google and then decide based on that
