I notice that my transmission is very slow to shift from reverse into drive the first use of the day. It doesn't occure from then on. Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it ??

is it the actual shifting of the car as in moving from reverse to drive, or is the gear selector as you shift having a harder time to go from reverse to drive? (if it's the first i donno, but if it's the second then gear selector mechanism, whats below the shift boot sleeve)

My 02 3.0 does the same thing.Every morning after backing out and then after selecting drive ,it takes about 5 seconds to engage.
A few years ago the previous owner (neighbor) had the "EGS control unit re-programed" but it made no difference.
It hasn`t got any better or worse ,so who knows!!

Thanks for your help. I guess the mx shop will have to fix it. I will let you know what the scoop is.

I had the same problem, this only occured in the morning when i had to reverse out of my drive way. and right when i put into D it took a bit longer and it when i were to be inpatiente and try to accelerate it felt like the car had was crossing a speed bump and had that type of a sim affect. so i complained and they ran some diognostic and they told me that they found out that the first cloutch plate was getting low pressure so they reprogrammed it to increase the pressure and it acutally worked. if youre interested i can scan my paper work and post it. let me know!
