DVD Audio Changer

Hi All,

Is it possible to replace my cd changer with a dvd audio changer and add a 5.1/dts audio processor. I have a 2006 4.8is w/nav. and dsp. I just like the 5.1/dts sound than the dsp installed in our X5. Thanks for all suggestions/reply.

Manny

i think even if you output in 5.1 the system will just convert it back to stereo, so I doubt it would make a difference

Correct me if i'm wrong but to have 5.1 a person would need an amp with 5 channels. That means the stock amp which is 2 channel stereo will not reproduce 5.1. Of course you could just remove the head unit and start from scratch.

i think that the stock dsp amp is like 14 channels b/c each speaker receives a different signal

True...even the stock business amp have 10 channels if you put it that way. But ultimately, what's feeding the stock amp (or what the stock amp is capable of receiving) is only 2 channels (full audio spectrum). You have 10 or 11 channels (the DSP only gained 1 channel - the sub, over the standard stereo), but they are crossed over to the appropriate speakers - not the full audio spectrum anymore.
