various angel eyes questions

Hi Guys

Been on here for a while as you guys know, purchased the AE kit from Jlevi but my complete lack of mechanical aptitude has prevented me from taking apart my X to install.

Questions:

1) If I buy a new set of lights from Ebay from a 2003 + will they be plug and play for my 2002 X? I would rather spend the money and just snap in.

2) I also bought some higher end headlight xenon bulbs from Hoen, in the meantime until i figure out my AE's I want to try and install them. Do I need to remove all of the torx screws to just replace the bulb?

Thanks as usual

If you buy 2003 headlights you cannot install Angel eyes as they cannot be opened on the year of lights. You need to buy lights from a 1999 to 2002.

I agree and any 2004+ will not fit your X5 without major cash to upgrade to the newer style X.

The Bulbs can be replaced without removing all the torx. But I think you have to remove the headlight from the X at least to make it much easier to install. Just a cover has to be removed

If you have already got 2002 Xenons headlight, you can bake them, remove the lense, and install the angel eyes yourself. It wont matter if you buy a complete unit with the angel eyes already installed, or do it yourself. You still have to remove the bumper to take the light unit out and install the new one.

Be careful when baking the lenses and/or removing the yellow turn signal lense because the headlight assembly lense could spider web...I learned the hard way. I also get a little condensation in the corner of the assembly near the turn signal, but it still looks awesome with the angel eyes. I will be posting pics soon.
