It looks to pretty much be a trade off between price and mileage. If you are planning on keeping it for quite a while then you may be better off paying a bit more to get one with lower miles (km's). Condition will play a factor, too, but you'll have to be the one to judge that.
As for perspective, the 2001 would likely have the MkIII nav drive, which does not support perspective mode. You would need to replace the MkIII with a MkIV in order to get this. It's a simple plug-n-play swap, however. and :xoutpost:

I can't advise without knowing your budget or the price condition & history of each car in relation to market values and competition. Not a lot between them spec wise. Im in UK so unlikely to be able to advise re price to pay.
Personally once satisfied re spec, mileage, price & history I'd look at primarily condition. Bear in mind cost for 4 new tyres an inspection 2 new discs and some tidying can add up. One comment- on option1 bear in mind that I believe 4/01 was the change point from 4:3 to 16:9 screens albeit you cqan retro upgrade a 4:3 to 16:9. Do check for pixelation on this as well as on dash. Selling your 4:3 and/or a Mk3 Nav would fund in part the cost of a 16:9 and/or a Mk 4 NAV- avoid dodgy foreign ebay items unless from reputable sellersto avoid buyng defective items or from ebay fraudsters. Condition is all except when the price must relect any issues- if not walk away.

If the cars are pretty much in the same condition and you can afford the price difference I would go for the lowest mileage with no hesitation IMO. 60,000kms is low mileage for a car like this one. Get an extended warranty in anycase.

I would go with either option 1 or option 3 just b/c the mileage is less than option 2

They are all in very good condition.
with the perspective gps, on option 1 i was at the dealer and i got into the menue and it didnt have the option for the perspective gps. Will the MKIII work in australia with the australian cars? |

You will pay one way or another.
With a old high millage BMW repairs can cost a lot. I would suggest getting a 2004 or newer. They made a number of improvements. You can lease a Volvo V70XC for a low cost. Its not a BMW but may be a low cost solution |

I'd say either 3 or 1. Sport pack is a big deal to me on the X5 and many other BMWs, but that one has high mileage.
However, my true opinion is that you buy a more recent model. The older models had more dated technology (such as some Sat-navs), and high-mileage V8 BMWs aren't quite as easy to maintain as the inline 6s. I say keep looking around if you can. |
