count your speakers. i believe that the 10 speaker system
does not have the sub. u should have 2 in the dash, 2 in
each front door and 2 in each rear door equaling 10 speakers.

w/ the amount it would cost to upgrade to DSP, u'd be better
off going after market.

Only the DSP set-up comes with the sub. It's located in the passenger side compartment in the cargo area.

Not worth the upgrade, I went from the Business system to the DSP system and can tell little difference no matter how I adjust the settings.

Stay away from DSP.
I have DSP.

DSP has no bass. The speakers have more bass than the subs most of the time.

Why is it that everyone thinks the DSP system sucks? I have the DSP system in my 2000 X5 and I think it sounds great. It has loads of bass... Did they change the setup from year to year?
The only downside I can see to the DSP system is that if I ever want to do any upgrading that I am in for a big headache.

Everything from the sample CD that i got from a 2001 X5's owner's manual to rock, rap, hip-hop, the occasional country... Lots of stuff, and it all sounds really good to me. My only other complaint is that i have a rattle from the plastic covers that cover the subs and the Navi compartment in the back of the car because there is so much bass. It have enough bass to shake my rear view and side view mirrors if i turn it up.

In the DSP settings there are two places you can adjust the bass and treble, in the tone area, and in the DSP area. I use the DSP Area and have three settings with varying bass. I will go take pictures of my settings and upload them if you would like.

What kind of music do you listen to?

can you share with us your settings? That would be great.

I listen to trance and various hip-hop.

I leave the treble and bass setting unchanged, but sometimes I turn the bass up by 2.

I configured my DSP setting (Memory 1) based on the user guide here.

I am very interested to see the other 2 settings you have.

Thanks in advance
