Help! Exhaust tips in the way of T55 - Hitch install

I'm about to start my hitch install but I can't get the T55 out. They are right above the exhaust tips. Do I need to remove the exhaust tips?

Thanks!

you can try by loosening the rubber hangers on the mufflers and gain a little space to insert the torx tool

You have a few options:

Try, as suggested, loosening the rubber hangers.
Do that in conjunction with an elbow type connector for the T55 bit.
Unbolt your exhaust. I had to do that since my Remus tip are way too tight to get at the T55 bolts.

Good luck.

I dropped them as suggested then wrapped some thin felt around the T55 shaft to get it between the exhaust tips. No scratches. Did have an angle tool as well though!

I struggled for an hour again today and the torx won't budge. I'm having a hard time getting any leverage. with the 4.4i there are two mufflers and it's really hard to reach it.

I think I'll have to look into dropping the exhaust. Any other tips are much appreciated.

You have to drop the exhaust in order to get to the bolts. It's not hard to do, just slip the rubber hangers off.

I had been thru same and had to drop exhaust to get some room. I had some makeshift jacks for exhausts after I removed the rear bumper.

Hi El Jeffe,
What are the rubber hangers you are referring to?

Thanks!
