HELP! With MkIV Navigation and 2007.1

I had the dealer upgrade the software to the V28, took out the CD of the old map and put in the newest 2007.1 DVD. I have a MkIV which shows the DVD logo on the unit. When I put it in, the nav unit does not read it. I called Navteq, they said you should be able to just drop it in. Dealer also thought that but now telling me I need to code the unit??? Any one have any ideas or experiences similar issues?

when you put the old dvd back in does it give you the same problem...if so its just a bad 2007.1 copy. If not it seems like the dealer messed up when they upgraded to the v28 sw.

The old one is a CD and when I put it back, it works fine so the OS install went fine... the dealer started saying that they need to recode the DVD unit to be able read DVD's which sound like BS to me...

if you have a cd based nav system you need a different drive to read the dvds

That is BS. The MKIV's should be able to read both without recoding.

You either have a bad disk or a bad nav drive.

Well, after spending 6 hours at the BMW Dealership...I am proud to say my problem is not that easy! All the tech's could not figure out either. The unit seems to work but will not read the disk... the disk is good as it worked on a car in the lot they had. So, they sent me home and said they are running a Puma report (Internal BMW Tech thing that goes through New Jersey). They are hoping they get assistance from other techs in the country... if not, I hope my Certified Pre-Owned warranty covers this mess and just gets me a new unit. Stay tuned.....
