Headrest slipping down from higher settings.

Ok, my dealer is 2 months out for an appointment, even though I told them this is a driver safety-issue. Also I am a long ways away from my next service appointment so the question is:

Does anyone else have a headrest that does not stay up at the higher settings (top 2 notches)? If so, did you find a way to fix it? This might be a common problem, or maybe its just mine. I will probably swap the drivers/passenger head rests tonight but not all my passengers are short so thats not a permanent solution.

Lame, the passenger side one does it too. Maybe not quite as bad but close to as bad and will probably get worse every day.

I would assume it is in the mechanism not in the headrest itself...although I don't know how difficult those are to remove...does anyone have a link to the interior section of the X5 shopmanual?

Haven't seen or heard of this problem before. Could it be that your release buttons are sticking - in the in position which allows them to slide? If so, perhaps they just need a bit of lube. Hope you get it resolved soon!

tonight I will try a few things but I was in the car a second ago and was playing with the release button, trying to push it into the lock position and all seems to be just fine with it. The headrests seem to hold Ok on the lower settings so I am wondering if all these cars have a problem whn the headrest gets too high. I am at least 6'3" by-the-way

...or could you be raising them up past the teeth?
