BMW Rear Bumper Step Protection

Has anybody actually installed this thing and if so, is it worth it? How does it look?

I have it... I like the look. Protection? Dunno... It's basically a thick sticker with a the letters "BMW" in the left corner.

The way the latch comes out, you will never use it. So it will be purely cosmetic. I don't like it. I like my car with the cleaner look.

The only benefit from this is when you want to load things in the trunk and you can simply rest it on this ledge protection without scratching the ledge.

Well said Jay.This topic has come up a few times and we have all said that its purely cosmetic! Now,as you pointed out ,it is practical after all.
I bought one but havent yet installed it but will be doing so soon.
Thanks for your observation.

My point is that if you are loading things in the trunk, you will have the lower portion of the trunk opened, which covers up the bumper and thus rendering the bumper protector useless.

Point taken! But I wasnt referring to any post today,I meant members opinions a while ago.
Jay made a good observation. You dont always open the lower part of the trunk when loading items in the trunk.I dont,so that makes at least 2 of us

AS the name implies it is a bumper STEP protection where you can step on it when you load something on the roof.... or simply just want to see the roof...

I just had 3M clearbra installed, I just had the guy put a piece on the rear bumper, and about 1/2" over the edge..looks great, can't tell it's there and I still have some protection. Just another alternative if you don't like the look of the black cover.
