Unhappy Help! abnormal rear tire wear!

I have an '04 4.4 with stock 19's all round; the rears (michelin 35's) are wearing on the inside to the point where the inner threads are scalloped and the howl coming from the tires is enough to make me think i'm driving an old ford f150. When i went to the stealer they mentioned it's normal wear! excuse me..these tires have less than 12k miles on them (I run all seasons in the winter) and again only wearing from the inside. any input would be appreciated.

might consider an allignment
that's too low of mileage for that much tire wear
i'd understand if it was front ones, since the negative camber and cornering aggresively will eat up the outside of the tires, but inside tires rear with stock suspension i imagine sport since you said 19s shouldn't happen
tire pressure
allignment
would be what i'd check
still kinda strange though

The fronts don't have much of a negative camber at all. The rears are the ones that have more negative camber. I have the same problem (a bit of "cupping" on the inner edges) with mine...also 19s, but I'm close to 30k miles on the original set of tires. I do agree that an alignment will solve the problem, though.

I have driven over 20K on each of my X5s ('01 & '06) and have not experienced anything but normal even wear on my 19" Diamaris - both sets still show plenty of tread

Tire pressure????? - If you're running 32psi all around then I agree alignment is the next thing to check

I am having the same issue with my stock 17's. When I first noticed this I did check the tire pressure and it was a little low all the way around. I am also going to rotate the tires front to back (I have that option) and see if the same thing occurs on the newly positioned ones.

I really appreciate all the input ; I was not aware the rears could be aligned (obviously neither was my dealer). I'll be calling them again this week before the same wear occurs on my winters. I do know that tire pressure was not an issue, but I'm wondering if the added weight from pulling our boat and dirt bikes might have something to do with it?

It's the negative camber, but that's a little too much wear for 12K miles. You could also dismount the tires an swap them from side to side. I know you're not suppose to, but the alternative is getting new tires pretty soon.

Its funny you mention this - I was wondering the same thing because I really did not notice the wear on the tires until after pulling a utility trailer around a few times with the X. Hmmmmmm

As I understand it, the trailer weight on the hook should be no more than 125 kgs (275 lbs) ie. the weight of one large adult, so shouldn't make to much difference. Is it possible that you have more weight than this bearing down on the hook?

Don

not in my case because I can lift the trailer tongue off and on by myself. Now when the lawn tractor is in the trailer, that might be another story.
