Help!!

Hi all, I purchased my X5 3.0 in August with 49,000 miles on it. It now has about 53,500 on it. Tonight on the way home, the service engine soon light came on and it was running rough and smoking. I was less than a mile from home so I got it home and when I turned it off a message came up that said check oil level. The oil was low but still on the dipstick, could this be the problem? There was no oil on the garage floor or any indication of a leak.

did you change the oil when you got the car?

I didn't change mine because I figured the dealership already did it. 4,000 miles later I change my oil and it was black. Not too bad, but it was black.

If you didnt change your oil or check it then you might have been going for a long time without an oil change.
