Talking PIX POSTED: brake upgrade time: brembo drilled + hawk performance!! :)

So it was time to get new brakes, so since tire rack was selling brembo drilled and slotted for the same price, and all things being equal, drilled just looks cooler -- if not actually providing better performance for our X's lol -- i am now ready to install my new hawk performance pads with drilled rotors!!

my current old setup has been hawk performance pads with brembo slotted rotors; and i've been using hawk performance pads since my ucla days with the mustang -- put another way, i've been using hawk pads now for about 5 yrs.

anyway i'll take some new pix once they're installed after TG

I am doing this too, with brembo drilled/slotted all the way around and hope to re-use my stock pads as they are still plenty thick. I am concernned that the pads might cause some funky wear issue. I have always believed pads+rotors simultaneously was a better ideer. As it stands the rotors I have now are warped or something as they shake when you hit the brakes hard. Car came this way too.

pads+rotors are not only a better idea, certain cars -- including bmw, mercedes(?) and porsche -- REQUIRE it. BMW, to my knowlegde, will NOT install pads or rotors independently of one another.

I'm pretty excited to see pics of this, too. My 2001 model just turned 50K miles and I'm still running the original rotors for better or worse. Am on my third set of pads and this time I went with 'organic' ones to save a couple of bucks. Worst mistake I've ever as they squeal like hell! I'll either take a tip from this board or go back to the OEM pads, that's for sure.

Am a huge fan of cross drilled rotors from that aesthetic standpoint. Put some on my last BMW and they didn't suck both performance wise and looks.

Have a great Thanksgiving and look forward to those pictures!
