Torn between last new 2006 4.8is or new 2007 5.8i

I am really torn on what to do here, regarding getting a new X5 for me. I will be trading in my newer Corvette, and selling off Trundra truck to just keep and drive one vehicle. I want a sporty SUV, something to give me a nice feel for the road, and good acceleration

Anyway's been looking at finding a new 2006 4.8is, and can maybe get one for mid $60k, but a brand new generation 2007 4.8i with sport package, is almost the same price maybe even a little cheaper, but I would have to order one and wait till February at the earliest till they arrive, no dealers will have a 07 Sport package sitting on the lot for sale any sooner.

Do I wait for the new style which I am not that crazy about, or just get the real ///M type SAV now ? But I would hate for me to start liking the new style months down the raod ( no pun intedned ). And I really love the new 2007 interior way more than 2006. But also have read that the new 2007 4.8i is not sporty at all, but more Lexus feel ? Where a 2006 4.8is can be upgraded for like $3k with some Dinan stuff and have close to 400hp, and I am sure that would feel much sportier than a 2007 4.8i ?

Opinions wanted please, thank's

This isnt the PS3, so it won't be sold out when it hits stores (in 3 days) Just, when you go there, test drive both cars... Of course, the 2007 will be "better" because it is newer, but then again some feature in the 06' will be gone in the 07'...

Well with the current rebates and such your 2006 choices are going to be less and less as time goes on , the 2007 is new and improved and in my opinion (and I own a current body style) a much better vehicle but the current gen (2004-2006) is very timeless and stunning

Check my post on here earlier under the E70 Forum. I test drove the new '07 4.8i today and it is unbelievable.
I don't think it had quite the acceleration of the '06 4.8is, but it is very close and the sticker was $61,xxx. It seemed a little more refined on the interior and I fell in love with it.........
I also posted a pic I took with my phone.........

I own a 4.8is and drove the new 2007 4.8i last week. Trust me 2006 4.8is is still the king X5. 2007 4.8i has less HP and is heavier. Not as much oomph as the 4.8is. The engine is also not sports tuned like the 4.8is. But some new technology at a price.

What Dinan stuff do you plan to put on the 4.8is? I thought they "only" had 2 "performance" components (CAI and throttle body). If there is something that I don't know please let me know. I too have a 4.8is and would like to get closer to 400HP.

For $120,000 you can purchase a 520 hp Porsche Cayenne turbo S....However, in this case I would choose the 4.8is. It has very aggressive looks and the power to back it IMO,

I'm value oriented so with the BMW cash incentive and dealers anxious to get the 06 X5s out of their inventory the 06 would be the one.

I would have gone with the 4.8 but after a 2 year experience with the Infiniti FX45 my Chiropractor was getting rich. No more sport rides for me.

Hold out for the new body style to at least test drive and look at in person. Then if you don't like it you can get a 06' for even less.
