AV in/out

On the back of the center console just below the passenger vents and to the left of the TV> button , my 02 4.4i Sport has 2 3.5mm jack plug connections marked AV in/out. I have connected multiple audio and video sources to this and occasionally get output when the TV is set to AV channel. Does anyone know the correct input cable for this? If I use a standard stereo jack I only get the laft channel audio and if I use a stereo and video jack I sometimes get video or audio but never together.

Thanks to all and keep up the good work for people like me

This has been discussed a lot in the past. The problem is that that connector being AV (audio and video) needs a video source to work if not it mutes the sound. The normal 4 ring jack fits and if you pull it out slightly it has been known for the video to think it has a signal and unblank the display and play but this is unreliable and may cause the display to work at the wrong frequency. In the past this would break a monitor!! I haven't yet tried a video mp4 player to see if it puts a signal on to the video line when playing mp3s but that may work.

I tried buying an of the shelf cable, my ipod works but the sound is pretty bad, it's not working in mono, but it loses depth as if it's not equalized.
