Here are Powerchip's claims for the X5 4.4i Valvetronic with 93 Octane. That's an increase of 18HP/19TQ. Is the $649 quote for the PowerchipGold93?

What/where do I find the part to take off to send to these guys for upgrade? What happens when my 4.8is goes in to service? Does BMW computers send up a red flag saying things are out of whack or anything? Don't want to void my warranty. My truck has less than 5k miles on it.

Should we contact them directly (if so, who is the best contact and what is their info?) or work thru you?

Will the gains mean lower gas mileage?

Um, I'm not the technical guy you want on this case haha. Might want to send them an email yourself? If you WANT to work thru me do you mean like a group buy? I could see something like that happening?

EZ, all the quotes are for 91, do you want 93 stuff or..? Oh btw these guys don't resell Powerchip

I spoke to David last night on a different issue, but I mentioned to him that there was discussion on the forum regarding this product. He's open to the idea of a "group buy".

You know how those things go.. he will need a guarantee of some sort, likely a non-refundable deposit from each participant.

Understood. Did they provide info related to expected gains for 93 Octane? Here in Florida, it's either 87, 89 or 93.

Do you want me to run this across my speed rep?

I'm kind of responsible for bringing all this here so I'll be on the phone asking for 93 stuff sent to me specifically for you. Hopefully before lunch.

Cool.. just call david and work out the details. I'm likely not interested for my X5, but thought it would be something for the others. He'll work with you.

When I saw "Status" Auto Design, I thought I'd vouch for them. David is a first class guy and I have no hesitation recommending him or any of his services. He's pretty much my "wheel/tire/mod" guy.

Trust matters..

Good point. I am in Florida as well and would be using 93 gas. So that info would be helpful on the 4.8is.

I would be in for a group buy. I hope we can get some great savings over the $600+ price tag.

Any idea what they do to the ECU? Could we not program ourselves with information if they send us the "upgrade file"? that would greatly reduce downtime and will dramatically extend their reach into the marketplace. We pull info off our ECU, send it to them and they plug it their "test" ecu and run tests, come up with new and improved data and send us back a file to upload into our ECU. Sounds feasible especially if others like Powerchip can do it..... or so I would think

Curtis

Apparently requires their local software there to kick it off. I don't think they release that prograom without big bucks and intent to open a shop.
