I sent and asked these guys some questions. I think some of you may find their responses helpful. I got their permission to repost the answers here.

Hi Curtis,

I apologize for the delayed response - we have been filming a Chevy commercial
in-house for one of their upcoming network TV ads and had rented our
shop/showroom in order to do so. Now that things are settled and back on track, I
can definitely answer your questions:

1) When you receive 93 Octane programming, loading the car with 91 in outside
states will not hurt the truck, but you may notice a performance decrease in
doing so. Once back in your home state, refilling with 93 about 2-3 times to
"flush" out the 91 octane should get you back to where you want to be
performance-wise. But again, your X5 won't run "terrible" or "bad" because of
lower octane fuel.

2) With the size of your engine and having an upgrade in programming you should
really, sincerely feel the difference. One could note that you should be able to
feel every bump up of 5hp/tq. In my experience, even your engine noise sounds
different - "unleashed" so to speak, and acceleration is greatly improved.

3) Every outside ECU that needs to be sent to our facilities at Status Auto
Design MUST be shipped next day / overnight - this is standard in our industry.
We want to minimize downtime as much as possible, but also ship as fast as you
ship. Minimum downtime is ~2 days, maximum is 3 days.

4) We have not heard of any incident where our tuning has affected warranty,
especially with the route you will be going for the reprogramming.

5) As for upgrades, you can install them now or later. If you're installing now,
install the upgrades and take the car to the dyno. This ensures that our
programming will match the details shown on your dyno with the upgraded hardware.
If you're programming now, and then decide to install upgrades later, we will
reflash the software for FREE in a given amount of time (most probably not longer
than one year).

6) As far as gas mileage: you are how you drive. With this in mind, you now know
the truck has more available power, hence it is how you use it, but all of our
tuning, if driven moderately actually increases the highway/city driving by at
least 1-2mpg - it's just the way we tune fuel maps. Most customers report back
with GREAT results during highway driving.

Thank you very much for your inquiries, it's possible to share these responses
with your X5 community if you wish as we are aware of a possible group buy in
progress. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards and happy holidays,
Jose @ SpeedInnovation & Status Auto Design
I would really like to get this group buy off the ground. I am in for the 4.8is tuning for 93 octane.

Anyone else want to move forward with a group buy?

Curtis
