Quick Breaking Thump & Startup Noise

Hello X5 World members. I have a 2001 X5 4.4 and am having issued when breaking suddenly. There is a jolt or pop when I have to break quickly. I think it must be a warn bushing or something in the front suspension. Aren't there bushings in the front that have to be pressed in?

Also, just recently I've noticed a loud screaming noise that last about two seconds on initial startup in the morning. Once the X5 worms up, it goes away on startup. Any ideas?

I may have the same breaking issue, but it seems to happen only the first time I break hard, does it happen always on your X?

Not sure about the thump but the screaming noice sounds like a slipping somewhere. Usually the fan belt.

The breaking issue happens all the times no matter how warm the weather or X5 is. I think the noise at startup may be a bearing going bad in one of the pulleies. Any thoughts?

Seems like a control arm issue... Known part to break down overtime...

Do you mean brake or break- as in maneuvering side to side?

If you mean brake as in applying the brakes, take the suggestion above and check the control arm but also check that the caliper is properly attached and seated correctly on the rotor.
