People just suck. Back when I had the X5, someone bashed in the panel above the rear wheel in a parking lot and just left... That's so stupid. Someone bashed our Volvo in the parking lot of Target with a huge Ram 2500.. The woman waited around for an hour for my mom to finish her shopping though, and she offered to pay for all the damages (New fender, hood, bumper, and $850 Xenon headlight).. My best friend's mom drives a Jaguar X-type and a brand new 530xi WITH PDC backed into her in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts. The woman waited though... Her bumper actually popped off, and the Jag just had a huge scratch.

I understand your feelings about this issue. However cut this guy some slack.

At his age maybe a parking place is all he has left that's important in his life. Sure it may not be right but wait till you get to be his age and perhaps you will understand. No damage correct? Then why not stroke the guy and apologize and explain that you were not aware this spot was important to him and that you will try to respect his wishes in the future.

From where i stand it's a small thing to endure from someone we should show respect for anyway. Just my 2 cents.

Note: there were still no other cars in this large cul-de-sac, just the "f.....g " (excuse the expletive) Volkswagen kissed-ass with my X5 as per the picture.

So I started taking pictures when I noticed the VW owner was still in his car so I immediately tapped his window and asked him to come out. He's an elderly guy (found out later that he was 85) so I told him he may have damaged my car and also asked why he parked so close to mine when the whole cul-de-sac is car-free. His reply - because I parked in front of his house! Took a deep breath as I was about to become mouthy and ugly when I realized that this guy looked familiar and then I remembered that I met him 15 years ago and more importantly he is also my neighbor's dad! So I cooled off quickly even though I still managed to tell him he was an asshole which he quickly replied that I should have parked in front of the house that I visited to begin with. Go figure.

Well, as it turned out, there was no damage, just some dirt scratches from both our dirty bumpers. Moral of the story: It doesn't matter how or where you park your X5, there are idiots everywhere

Ed...just left there once again (worked the Maui Invitational for ESPN) but am coming back on Dec 31st...we should hook up then.

I got stuck on the westside during the fire on the Pali in late AUG and had to drive around the northside to get to the airport because the highway was shutdown for 2 days.

Who would have a problem with a nice X5 parked outside their house! I once parked my Alfa in a near empty carpark nowhere near the store entrance to find a piece of crap Ford Falcon parked 6 inches from me!!!!

I have never understood the F'ers that think visitors cant part in front of their house. They may own the house but they dont own the parking in front of it. I make it a point to aggrivate people like that.

No need to understand it and no need to waste the time or the energy aggrivating them. Just enjoy the show.

Making such points are great, but I worry they take out their frustration on my car.

But objectively speaking, I saw the pics above and I'd be pissed if someone parked so close to me (it appeared as if the two bumpers were actually touching!). I mean, its not clever or a laughing matter i think.

Actually, one of the nicest things about living in the middle east is not having any assigned/specific parking areas you can put your car almost anywhere. The bonus of owning a X5 is pretty much climbing on top of pavements and parking it there were no other car can come close
