Belts are specifically excluded from normal warranty and included in maintenance. If you're under maintenance anymore, you have no grounds for a request.

The maintenance plan in Canada did not get extended in 2003 (I have a 2003 and a 2004, and they are both 3 year). It has been extended since then. However, our maintenance plan is scheduled maintenance, not full maintenance like the US has. All that is covered here is the oil change and filter, microfilter, and brake fluid change, as well as roadside assistance. Those wear item replacements are only done according to the green lights (or 2 years for brake fluid). No brakes, wiper blades, clutches, belts, etc. A new vehicle purchaser can upgrade to full maintenance, but any owner that paid extra would likely know they had purchased it.

Aside from that, agree with Vinuneuro that belts are definitely a maintenance item. A belt that fails at 73,000 km is not defective, it is worn out.

I figured since they were trying to pull a fast one with the head gasket (which my SA also told me isnt covered under the CPO plan B.S.)
I would'nt put it past them to charge me for a belt that's covered under warranty.

It is stated in the service and warranty manual that belts and other wear items are covered only in the case of a manufacturing or installation defect.

I'm sure I have the same coverage as you but for the first three years I had wiper blades, brake pads and rotors changed free of charge under the maintenance plan. I do not remember upgrading to a full maintenance plan. Could be me though .
