My car cover scratch my X5
Today after a few months with the original BMW car cover, I notice some friction scratches, and the sad part is that I never use my X5, to prevent that. Did any one know how to fix it? Any recommendation on car cover, other than the factory.

What type of material is the cover made from? Did you put the cover on an already dusty or dirty vehicle, because that will just trap the dirt between the cover and the paint and act like sandpaper. I always use a duster to give the car a quick cleaning before putting my cover on it. So far, no scratches. Wash the cover too if you think there is a lot of dust build up on it otherwise it will just get spread around when you roll it on and off. Personally, I think covers are only useful outdoors, and not worth the trouble if the car is garaged indoors.

Anything that comes in contact with the vehicles exterior has the potential to cause abrasions if there is the slightest irregularity on the contact surface.
I think if you could find a better cover, or perhaps get a cotton liner and a friendly seamstress, should resolve the issue. Just a thought. Stay safe.

I use a cover made with the NOAH fabric for outdoor use. It's designed for constant sunlight exposure, rain, etc., and has a dust blocker layer. It is also soft on paint. If your X is kept outside, I'd highly recommend switching to a similar type of cover.
