CD Changer Skips!

I noticed that whenever i drive and hit small bumps on the road, the BMW OEM CD changer skips.

Is there a fix to this? Or I think i read somewhere here that you can go to the dealer and they will give an exchange on the bad core I have and they will give me a refurbised one?

My '01 4.4 sport has the 6 CD changer (note: these are made by Alpine) - It's only skipped with really big bumps and I have the stiffer sport suspension - when did you have it installed? - I've got 19", so the 20" may not be a contributing factor - If it's a new install, you may have relief - If it's 3yrs old, it may be time for a new one - You might want to look at an Alpine unit at your local car stereo installer - It should be less expensive than the one that has "BMW" printed on it

CD Changers do tend to wear with age, try with different CDs to see if the problem is CD or Changer related. Otherwise, look into selling the changer on eBay and upgrading to the DICE/iPod setup - you'll be much happier.

Here is what I did to fix skipping CD changer

Take the cover off. There are 4 rubber silicone filled shock absorbers on which cd player itself mounted and kinda floating inside the case. Make sure those absorbers are properly seated, turn them around and fix in place with some tape. One of mine was dislocated causing CD player to hit the outside shell while driving over bumps.
