Hello, Can anyone tell me if I can swap my nav system? I have a 01 X5 with the original Nav system it came with. I just want to know if I can swap this with a newer DVD version. I hope you guy's can help... Thanks.

yes it can be done, but you'll need the DVD nav drive as well (trunk) as well as the big screen/nav unit from dash, so it adds up $

He can work with DVD Nav unit using 4/3 screen, but i believe some features will be lost like panorama view, and double screen presetation.

It's a plug and play swap, and several of us have done the same thing! Make sure you have a map DVD for your MkIV drive and the latest OS for it and you're good to go.

cheapest option would be to source a secondhand mk 4 ( ideally with latest os) on ebay or from a breaker/scrap yard and plug/play then sell your mk3.

Just bear in mind some dodgy ebayers overseas were offering these a while back when I looked so be careful. Ideally go for a powerseller with returns policy.
