HowTo replace that device

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

yeah - as you see in my first line I really need you and your know-how for a problem I have right now.

Wanted to change to leather sport seats in my X5 I got some with seat heating - good luck. But I did not have the switches to power them on. Since I now have my cool sport seats - beloved wife says that they are really cool - but from the temperature - I bought something to power them on. Please have a look at the attached picture.

BUT: How can I replace the existing device with the one I have now? And: will I be able to operate my seat heating? Really hope so since I am living in the middle of the Alps. Tried to remove the existing but was afraid to break something.

Would reall be happy to get a solution for that, also tried to use the search function but I was not really successful.

Thanks guys,

H

take a small plastic trim tool and pry this away from where it sits. its very simple, just held in by spring clips. plug and play and your x should be wired already for the seats so your good to go. you can even use a thin flat headed screwdriver.

I didn't bother with the trim tool, just opened the ashtray cover and wedged my finger in between the cover and the trim surround, and pulled the old switch bezel out.

Fingers - the new specialty tool X)

Yeah tried that too - but there was something between that switch thing and the ashtraycover which did not let me ... maybe you post a pic of your finger :-)

Take care,

H

Yep there's a plastic surround behind the ashtray cover, but there are at least 2 gaps in that surround - I used the one on the left side to get my finger back behind the SZM to pop it out. I'm sure my car felt violated
